Biskupiec [bisˈkupjɛt͡s] (German: Bischofswerder) is a village in Nowe Miasto County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Biskupiec.[1]
Biskupiec lies approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) north-west of Nowe Miasto Lubawskie and 80 km (50 mi) south-west of the town of Olsztyn and 100 km (62 mi) south-east of the regional metropole of Gdańsk.
The village has a population of 1,927.
Prior to 1945 it was in Germany. After World War II the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles.
