In 1993, following the electrification of Perth's suburban railway network, this pair of vehicles, along with all but one of its sister dmu pairs, was exported from <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremantle_Harbour" class="extiw" title="w:Fremantle Harbour">Fremantle Harbour</a> to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auckland" class="extiw" title="w:Auckland">Auckland</a>, New Zealand, after being purchased by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tranz_Rail" class="extiw" title="w:Tranz Rail">New Zealand Rail Limited</a> for use on that city's suburban railway network. As of 2013, both vehicles were still in service with <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auckland_Transport" class="extiw" title="w:Auckland Transport">Auckland Transport</a> in Auckland, under the same fleet numbers.
