A giant Kala head on top of the door while the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makara_(Hindu_mythology)" class="extiw" title="w:Makara (Hindu mythology)">Makara</a> projected on the side of the portal on south wall of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalasan" class="extiw" title="w:Kalasan">Kalasan</a> buddhist temple, display the aesthetics of ancient Java art. Kala-Makara is typical style of Hindu-Buddhist temple portals in Central Java circa 8th to 9th century.
