The tarmac of <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/McCarran_International_Airport" class="mw-redirect" title="McCarran International Airport">McCarran International Airport</a> is dark by comparison, while the airstrips of <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Nellis_Air_Force_Base" title="Category:Nellis Air Force Base">Nellis Air Force Base</a> on the north-eastern fringe are likewise dark. The dark mass of <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Frenchman_Mountain&action=edit&redlink=1" class="new" title="Frenchman Mountain (page does not exist)">Frenchman Mountain</a> borders the city to the east.
