Summary
Governor Bobby Jindal travelled to Grand Isle to meet with local officials today and surveyed oil impacts on the coast and view current dredging operations in East Grand Terre.
Oiled pelicans came onshore. Staff on the tour immediately dispatched the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to rescue the pelicans and take them to be cleaned and treated for any injuries. The brown pelican is Louisiana’s state bird, only recently removed from the endangered species list.
