Up WCML express leaving Penrith.
View northward, just south of Penrith station on the West Coast Main Line. The 13.45 express Glasgow (Central) to Manchester (Victoria) is blasting away and the firemen of both engines are stoking up for tackling the 10 miles at 1-in-120 up to Shap Summit. LMS 2P 4-4-0 No. 40631 is piloting rebuilt 'Royal Scot' 7P 4-6-0 No. 46105 'Cameron Highlander'. The lines on the left led to Keswick, Cockermouth and Workington.
