Summary

The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_L._Mott" class="extiw" title="w:Jordan L. Mott">Hon. Jordan Lawrence Mott, Jr.</a>'s centerboard schooner Magic (formerly Madgie). She was originally a sloop modelled by her first owner Richard Fanning Loper and built in 1857 at the T. Byerly & Son shipyard, PA. Her later owner Franklin Osgood had her entirely rebuilt in 1869 at the David Carll shipyard, NY, prior to her successful defence of the 1870 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America%27s_Cup" class="extiw" title="w:America's Cup">Queen's Cup</a>. She is pictured here in the 1888 Ogden Goelet cup in Newport, RI.
