Summary
The round tower, Drumlane Abbey A monastery was founded here in the 6th century, either by St Colmcille or St Maodhog. The main building to survive from this period is the round tower, of which the lower part dates from the 10th or 11th century. In the mid-12th century, the Abbey was re-founded by the Augustinians and the upper section of the tower was added possibly in the 15th century. Most of what survives of the Church dates from the 15th and 17th centuries.
