G.G. Communications was a film distribution company based in Boston, Massachusetts.[1] Headed by city native Nicholas W. Russo (credited in releases as "N.W. Russo"),[1][2][3] it was responsible for the U.S. releases of various foreign films aimed at children.[2] G.G.'s titles included the Pippi Longstocking live-action films,[4] Rolf Kauka's Once Upon a Time,[3] and the 1975 anime feature based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.[2] In the early 1980s, its films were released on VHS through the Video Gems label.[5]
