Duo is a video chat mobile app developed by Google. It was announced on May 18, 2016, at Google I/O.[1][2] The app is due to be released in summer 2016.[3]
Features
Features of the app include:[3]
- HD 720p video
- Optimized for low bandwidth mobile networks. The app optimizes WebRTC and uses QUIC over UDP. Optimisation is further achieved through the degregation of video quality through monitoring network quality.[1]
- "Knock Knock" - a live preview of the caller before the caller picks up
- End-to-end encryption
- Google Assistant support.
