Preetika Rao is an Indian model, actress, writer and singer known for her role in the Hindi language television series Beintehaa.[1][2]

Her father owns an advertising agency in Mumbai and her twin sister, Amrita Rao, is an award winning Bollywood actress. Preetika graduated majoring in History from Sophia College, while also acquiring a diploma in Advertising and Journalism.[2][3]

As a teen-model, Rao started her modelling career with an advertisement for Cadbury Dairy Milk, along with Amitabh Bachchan, directed by Shoojit Sarkar, She moved on to have a successful modelling career with forty plus tvc and print campaigns to her credit.[4] After her best career in modelling, she went to do film journalism for South Side , Chennai Times Mumbai Mirror, Bangalore Mirror, Indian Forums, Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age.

In order to pursue her academic degree Rao choose to let-go off some big offers from Bollywood that came her way including offer’s for movies like Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008) and Aashiqui 2 (2013).[5] Preetika made her acting debut with the Tamil romantic film Chikku Bukku (2011) with Media One Global Ent Pvt Ltd the makers of Tamil movie Jeans and Rajnikanth’s Kocchadayyan .[3] However Preetika quit South movies for a diploma course in broadcast journalism from the New York Film Academy.[6]

In 2014, Preetika made the transition from Regional cinema to National Television with the popular television serial Beintehaa aired on Colors TV, playing the role of Aaliya Zain Abdullah which made her a household name.

Preetika Rao won the Best Actress Award at the Kalakar Awards, held at Kolkatta in January 2015.[7] Along with the Zee Gold Best Debut. [8]
