Notes
- Last race: Cristiano da Matta
- Kimi Räikkönen's rear wing was broken during the race, leading to a massive accident.
- Marc Gené was replaced at Williams by Antônio Pizzonia, returning to Formula One after being sacked by Jaguar following the 2003 British Grand Prix.
- The first start was aborted after Olivier Panis indicated a problem with his car. This led to a second formation lap, and the shortening of the race by 1 lap.
- First Points: Antônio Pizzonia
Championship standings after the race
- Bold text indicates who still has a theoretical chance of becoming World Champion.

|
- Note: Only the top five positions are included for both sets of standings.
