Brampton Meadow

Brampton Meadow is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Cambridgeshire, England. The site, adjacent to the A14 northwest of the Brampton Hut roundabout, is rich in native grasses and biodiversity, in part owing to its neutral (non-calcareous) soil. "Unimproved" natural grassland, became a scarce commodity in Britain during the second half of the 20th century, in part owing to pressures of fertilizer-dependent intensive agriculture. A Grassland Inventory of Cambridgeshire (1994) found only 670 hectares (1,700 acres) of dry, unimproved grassland.
