Brother 3 (Russian: Брат 3, translit. Brat 3) is a Stanislav Baretsky film, a direct sequel to Brother and Brother 2.

Synopsis

The film will tell a story about the children of Danila and Sergey Bagrovykh, about three brothers. Older - clever, average - sly and younger - normal.

Production

Initially, Aleksei Balabanov planned to shoot the second and third films simultaneously. However, the script seemed boring and it was decided to combine the two scenarios into one whole film Brother 2.[1] After the success of the second film Balobanov refused to shoot the third part. And after that, when Sergei Bodrov Jr. and Aleksei Balabanov died,[2][3][4] the clouds thickened over the project in a figurative sense.

In 2019, there were rumors that Stanislav Baretsky would create the film "Brother 3", where, according to him, Kirill Tereshin, Bari Alibasov, Marina Anissina, Olga Buzova, Viacheslav Datsik, Nikita Dzhigurda, Viktor Sukhorukov and Sergey Shnurov. According to Boretsky, “people have been singled out from the ritual business,”[5]

Filming

The film’s script is already ready and at present some scenes have already been shot. Filming is planned to be completed by 2020.[5]

Reviews

In turn Sergei Bodrov, older considered this idea to be strange, Sergey Selyanov expressed the opinion that this rudeness, disrespect and stupidity” in relation to those who created the first two parts, Viktor Sukhorukov stated that he did not want to know people who were related to this project, and Irina Saltykova called them “clowns”.[6][7][8][9][10] In addition, the Change.org began collecting signatures for petition about canceling the filming of the third film.

Release

The release of the film is scheduled for 2020. The film will be distributed by a newly minted studio called 2020 in honor of the year of release of this film.[5]
