Chandur is a census town in Nalgonda district in the state of Telangana, India.

Geography

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Chandur had a population of 10,762. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Chandur has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 73% and female literacy of 51%. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Industries
Agriculture is the major source of income to people living in and around Chandur. Apart from this, Chandur has variety of industries through which people make living - brass works, Handloom (weaving of Silk/Pocahmpally Sarees), tobacco etc. Chandur has several rice mills and parboiled rice mills. Chandur was once known as the commercial hub of Nalgonda District. However, other towns have taken over and developed at a rapid speed. Chandur could not develop at a rapid speed due to not having direct connectivity through rail or road to major cities.
After 2010 Chandur has had a rapid development in terms of business, education and also in Agriculture.

- Nethaji Residential High School (Having Nearly 800 Students but Now the School Was Closed Recently). Established in 1985
- DonBosco Junior College was started 25 years back. So many students of this area benefited from the services given by the college. Established in 80s
Chandur is surrounded by various villages viz. Angadi Peta, Gundra Palli, Tummala Palli, Bangaari Gadda, Idikuda,Dhonipamula, Nermata, Pullemla, Kondapur, Theratpally, Ghattupal, Bhodhangi Parthi, Shirdha Palli, Kotayya Gudem, Kurampally,Regatta.
The main source of water is ground water.
The population consists of 95% of Hindus, 4% of Muslims and the balance is of mainly Christians. Manchikanti Yadagiri Junior College is located at village of Bodangi Party. It is running succesfoully by a charitable trust. Many students are studying at the college for less fee and also free bus facility is available to the students who are coming from the other villages.
