Congo is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, from August 5 to 21, 2016. This will be the nation's twelfth appearance at the Summer Olympics, since its debut in 1964. Congolese athletes did not attend the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, and the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal because of the African boycott.

Judo

Congo has qualified one judoka for the men's half-heavyweight category (100 kg) at the Games, signifying the nation's Olympic return to the sport for the first time since 2004. Ismael Bakekolo Kibangou earned a continental quota spot from the African region as Congo's top-ranked judoka based on points in the IJF World Ranking List of May 30, 2016.

Congo has entered three athletes into the table tennis competition at the Games. China-based players Wang Jianan and Han Xing secure places each in the men's and women's singles by virtue of a top four finish at the 2015 All-Africa Games.[3] They were eventually joined by three-time Olympian Suraju Saka, who finished in the top two at the African Qualification Tournament in Khartoum, Sudan.[4]
