Dead or Alive: Code Chronos (DOA:CC) was the code name for a cancelled video game that was in development by Team Ninja for the Xbox 360.[1][2]

In a February 2005 interview with Kikizo, Tomonobu Itagaki stated that Code Chronos will in fact be a prequel to the Dead or Alive series and will relay the story of characters Ayane and Kasumi before the first tournament.[3] The game was supposed to be related to the part of the opening cinematic of Dead or Alive Ultimate that showed the child versions of Kasumi and Ayane.[4]

As of November 2008, the game's development status had been unknown. Team Ninja founder and Dead or Alive series creator Itagaki filed a lawsuit against Tecmo for unpaid royalties and damages concerning harsh words from the company's president. On July 1, 2008, he officially resigned from Tecmo, thus leaving the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises.[5]

On November 5, 2010, Yousuke Hayashi, the new head of Team Ninja, confirmed in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that the project has been officially cancelled.[1] Instead, a portable Dead or Alive game which details the events of the first four games in the franchise, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011.
