Eknathrao Ganpatrao Khadse (born 2 September 1952) is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and prominent leader of BJP in Maharashtra.

He was elected as Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in November 2010.[2] He represents Muktainagar (Assembly constituency) in Jalgaon district of North Maharashtra. He was Finance minister and later he added irrigation ministry portfolio in Shiv Sena - BJP government. He was elected six times from his constituency. He had taken various issues of Maharashtra and specifically some of the burning topic of Maharashtra to the assembly. He stands out in assembly session by his speech. He is prominent figure for farmer’s issues.[3]

He started his political career from the university elections.

Personal life

Eknath Khadse is from kothali village of Muktainagar tehsil of Jalgaon district. Khadse is prominent leader of Maharashtra. He has been elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State, representing Muktainagar, since, 1989. Khadse's father was a farmer. Khadse's native place is kothali. Kothali is a village on the banks of Purna river, near muktainagar. Khadse was a Sarpanch of Kothali village in 1987 and after that he became the member of legislative assembly from muktainagar constituency. Khadse worked for to solve the questions of maharashtra farmers and muktainagar vidhansabha khsetra.he had handled both finance and irrigation portfolios in the Shiv Sena-BJP regime of 1995-99.Going by experience, having served as MLA for six terms, Mr Khadse is now the senior-most leader in the party in Maharashtra. He has been handling the post of leader of opposition of the state Assembly since November 2010. His son, Nikhil Khadase, committed suicide on 1 May 2013.He was also among Frontrunners for the Maharashtra chief minister post after 2014 assembly elections.[4][5][6]
