Equus conversidens (Owen 1869), or the Mexican horse, was a Pleistocene species of horse, now extinct, that inhabited North America.[1]
Fossils found in Mexico, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Florida have been identified as Equus conversidens.[1] In January 1963, a partial skeleton of Equus conversidens was found in the city of Canyon, Texas in a white clay bed during the excavation of a basement. [1] The species was medium to small-sized.[2]
