Etsuko Ichihara (市原 悦子 Ichihara Etsuko?, born 24 January 1936) is a Japanese actress. She has appeared in more than one hundred films since 1957.

Career

Ichihara joined the Haiyuza theater troupe in 1957 and made her debut in Rikō na oyomesan.[1] Winning an award at the 1959 Geijutsusai for Chidori, she became the star of Haiyuza, but left the troupe in 1971.[1] She has appeared in film and on television, and is also known for narrating the long-running anime series Manga Nihon mukashi banashi.[1] In 1989, she won the Japan Academy Prize for best supporting actress for Black Rain.[2]
