Luxco also manufactures Golden Grain Alcohol as the same spirit without the express brand name. A competitor, Gem Clear is bottled by the Quality Control Distilling Co. in Bardstown, Kentucky using roughly the same formula.

Alcohol content

Due to the azeotropic effects visible in the distillation process, ethanol cannot be concentrated by ordinary distillation to a ratio of ethanol to water greater than approximately 96 to 4 by weight.[4] The highest concentration of ethanol generally available for human consumption is 190 proof (95% alcohol by volume), which is about 92.4% ethanol by weight.
