Gianluca de Castro Petecof (born 14 November 2002 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian racing driver and member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.[1]

Career

Karting

Petecof began karting in 2010, competing in his native Brazil before expanding into other parts of the world, including the United States where he took victory in the 2014 Florida Winter Tour, and Europe, with the highlights being a fifth place finish in the CIK-FIA OKJ World Championship in 2016 and sixth in the OK World Championship the following year.[2][3][4][5] In 2015, Petecof received backing from the racing division of the Shell oil company.[6]

Lower formulae

In February 2018, it was announced Petecof would graduate to single-seaters, competing with Prema Theodore Racing in both the ADAC and Italian F4 Championships.[7][8] In the Italian championship, Petecof claimed four podiums and claimed his maiden win at Mugello, finishing fourth in the championship.[9] In ADAC Formula 4, Petecof claimed a podium in the third race at the Nürburgring and finished tenth in the championship.[10]

In January 2019, Ferrari confirmed Petecof would do a second season at Formula 4 level, both ADAC and Italian.[11]

Formula One

In December 2017, Petecof was named as a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.[1] He was retained in January 2019.[12]
