Giuliano Cesarini, iuniore
Julian Cesarini the Younger (It.:Giuliano Cesarini, iuniore) (1466–1510) was an Italian Roman Catholic cardinal.
Biography
Giuliano Cesarini, iuniore was born in Rome in 1466, the son of Gabriele Cesarini, gonfaloniere of the Roman people, and his wife Godina Colonna, a Roman noble.[1] He was the grand-nephew of Cardinal Giuliano Cesarini, seniore.[1] One of Giuliano Cesarini's brothers was married to Gerolama Borgia, daughter of Pope Alexander VI.[1]
Early in his life, he was a protonotary apostolic.[1] He also became a canon of the cathedral chapter of St. Peter's Basilica, and, on March 13, 1491, a canon of the chapter of St. Lambert's Cathedral, Liège.[1]
In the consistory of September 20, 1493, Pope Alexander VI made him a cardinal deacon.[1] He received the red hat and the deaconry of Santi Sergio e Bacco on September 23, 1493.[1]
On January 2, 1495, he visited Charles VIII of France in Rome.[1] On May 27, 1495, he accompanied the pope to Orvieto and returned to Rome with him on June 27, 1495.[1]
He became apostolic administrator of the see of Ascoli Piceno on February 14, 1500, occupying this post until his death.[1] On March 5, 1503, he became archpriest of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.[1]
He participated in the papal conclave of September 1503 that elected Pope Pius III, and in the papal conclave of October 1503 that elected Pope Julius II.[1]
On November 29, 1503, he opted for the deaconry of Sant'Angelo in Pescheria.[1]
He died in Rome on May 1, 1510.[1] He is buried in Santa Maria in Aracoeli.[1]
