Gladys Reichard

Gladys Amanda Reichard (born 17 July 1893 at Bangor, Pennsylvania; died 1955) was an American anthropologist on the faculty of Barnard College, best known for her studies of Navajo language and culture.[1] Overall, she worked in the field for thirty years.[2]

Biography

Reichard received her bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College in 1919 and her master's degree from the same institution in 1920.[2] She started her fieldwork in 1923.[2] Reichard attended Columbia University for her PhD, which she earned in 1925.[2] In 1926, she received a Guggenheim fellowship.[3]
