Good as Gold (Stupid as Mud) is a 1994 Hit single by English pop band The Beautiful South. It was written and composed by singer songwriter Paul Heaton. In the song, he mentioned a line about his drinking problems, stating "Don't know what i'm doing here i'll carry on regardless, Got enough money for one more beer". Many people were confused with the songs lyrical lines "Carry on regardless", a 50's film. The song was taken from their 4th album Miaow. It also was one of the first songs sung by singer Jacqui Abbot.
