The Gurney's sugarbird (Promerops gurneyi) is a species of bird in the Promeropidae family.

It is found in Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, dry savanna, and Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation.

The common name and Latin binomial commemorate the British Banker and amateur ornithologist John Henry Gurney (1819-1890).[2]
