Gustav Svensson (born 7 February 1987 in Gothenburg) is a Swedish football midfielder and defender, currently playing for IFK Göteborg in the Allsvenskan.

Club career
IFK Göteborg
He played for a local team in Gothenburg as well as a French team in his youth but joined IFK Göteborg at the age of 14. He has played there since and won the Swedish Championship with the club in 2007. Gustav was nominated as the Newcomer of the year in Swedish football the same season but lost out to Johan Oremo.
Bursaspor
On 1 September 2010, he signed a 3-year contract with 2009–10 Süper Lig champions Bursaspor.[1]
Tavriya Simferopol
On 7 July 2012, he signed a 3-year contract with Ukrainian club Tavriya Simferopol.[2]
Return to IFK Göteborg
On 23 March 2014, he signed a 4-year contract with his former club IFK Göteborg.[3]
International career
Gustav Svensson usually plays as a central midfielder but has also been playing centre back and full back from time to time, including some of the 24 caps for the Sweden under-21 team.
Personal life
Gustav Svensson has two older sisters. Ellen and Maria Svensson along with a younger brother Olof Svensson. Olof Svensson has been recruited overseas to the United States to play in a competitive Division II Soccer team in Long Island, New York. Olof starts as a centre back or center midfielder for Long Island University, C.W. Post Pioneers. Olof Svensson has started 8 out of 11 games played. Out of 8 shots Olof has registered 1 goal, totalling 2 points.
On 5 February 2011, he and his ex-team mate Mathias Ranégie, was involved in an incident in which Mathias Ranégie was allegedly assaulted by group of girls in a café in Gothenburg (courtcase still pending).[4]
