Hanoi University (Abbreviation: HANU; Vietnamese: Đại học Hà Nội) (formerly Hanoi University of Foreign Studies), established in 1959 in Hanoi, is now, a leading institution in foreign language training and research.
Hanoi University offers bachelor's degrees in 10 foreign languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
Among these, Masters and PhDs are offered in Russian, English, French and Chinese. Besides, the following foreign languages are offered as second foreign languages: Bulgarian, Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Romanian and Thai.
Since 2002, the University has offered following Business Bachelor Programs taught in English: Business Management, Tourism Management, International Studies, Computer Science, Finance-Banking and Accounting.
Foreign students make up for 10% of the total student population and they are enrolled either for Business or Vietnamese Studies.

The University’s development strategy is to uphold its leading position in education and research on foreign languages and international studies at all levels, to develop gradually into a multidisciplinary language-based university for the education and training of professionals of highest standards for the industrialization and modernization of the country, and to strive to become an international university, making an active contribution to Vietnam’s renovation and global integration processes.
Mission
Hanoi University has the mission to become a national focal university in terms of foreign languages and humanities, meeting regional and international standards, on the strong foundation of foreign languages. Hanoi University tries its best to stay at the forefront in the fields of training quality and technology applications, making great contribution to the national growth in the process of industrialization and modernization, and striving to become an international university in the region.
