History
Higashi-Noshiro Station opened on November 1, 1901[1] as Noshiro Station (能代駅?) on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR), serving the village of Ogifuchi, Akita. It was renamed Hataori Station (機織駅?) on November 1, 1909, and renamed again to its present name on June 15, 1943. JGR became the Japanese National Railways (JNR) after World War II. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987.
