"I Found a Reason"
Song

"I Found a Reason" is a song by the Velvet Underground, originally appearing on their 1970 album Loaded. The song was written by Lou Reed. It is in F major, in 12/8 time. The song begins with doo-wop-influenced harmonies between Reed and bassist/vocalist Doug Yule. Reed sings the first verse melodically ("I found a reason to keep living ..."), followed by a harmonized chorus by Reed and Yule ("Oh, I do believe ..."). The second verse is then delivered by Reed as a spoken monologue, not unlike a tradition in soul music.

The song was sampled for use in the song "Risingson" by Massive Attack on their 1998 album Mezzanine. The song has been covered by Cat Power, whose rendition appeared on her 2000 release The Covers Record and was used in the film V for Vendetta (2006), Saving Face (2004) and Dandelion (2004).
