Jonathan Blondel (born 3 April 1984) is a retired Belgian footballer who last played as a midfielder for Club Brugge.
Career
Blondel started his career at Royal Excelsior Mouscron, before signing to the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on 7 August 2002. Unfortunately for Blondel, his time at White Hart Lane was not as active as expected, and after only two substitute appearances he left for Bruges on 28 January 2004.
Blondel has been capped on two occasions for the Belgian national football team, and has a large number of under-21 and under-19 international appearances to his name. Blondel also, shortly before joining Tottenham, had a trial with the English giants Manchester United.
On 13 January 2015, Blondel announced his retirement from professional football after years of injury trouble. In his 12 years with Club Brugge he underwent 13 surgical procedures. After the last one he knew he would never be able to play at his original level. His last official match was on 8 August 2013, in the 2013–14_UEFA_Europa_League.[1]
