Kami-Yagi Station (上八木駅 Kami-Yagi-eki?) is a JR West Kabe Line station located in 3-chōme, Yagi, Asaminami-ku, Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan.

History

  • 1910-12-25: Ōtagawabashi Station opens
  • 1929-12-02: Ōtagawabashi Station electrifies the track
  • 1936-09-01: The station is renamed Ōtagawabashi Station when the Kabe line is nationalized
  • 1987-04-01: Japanese National Railways is privatized, and Kami-Yagi Station becomes a JR West station

Station building

Kami-Yagi Station features one station-side platform capable of handling one line. While the platform is long enough to handle three car trains easily, the last door on a four car train can not be used. This is not generally a problem, however, as the Kabe Line rarely has trains longer than three cars anymore. The vast majority of trains on the Kabe Line are only two cars. During morning and evening rush hour, as well as when trains from the Sanyō Main Line and the Kure Line pass through the station, there are trains which have four or more cars. There are plans for updating the station, but no specific dates have been given as of October 2006.
