Kannedhirey Thondrinal (English: Came before my eyes) is a 1998 Tamil film directed by Ravichandran. The film stars Prashanth and Simran in the lead roles. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Deva.[1] Owing to its success, the film was remade in Telugu as Manasulo Maata (1998), in Kannada as Snehaloka (1999), in Malayalam as Dhosth (2001) and in Bengali as Sangee (2002).
Plot
The film talks about two friends Vasanth (Prashanth) and Shankar (Karan) from the same college.. They start out as enemies and then become best friends. Vasanth loves Priya (Simran) without knowing she is Shankar’s sister, which he comes to know later. When Shankar tells Vasanth about his past, that his other sister eloped with one of his best friend (Vignesh). On hearing this horrifying news, then Vasanth makes up his mind to sacrifice his love without hurting Shankar and their true friendship. Later Priya tries for a suicide attempt. Through Vasanth’s servant Gopal (Chinni Jayanth) Shankar comes to know about Vasanth’s love with his sister Priya, and Vasanth’s readiness to sacrifice his love for their friendship. Shankar blissfully accept their love.

The satellite rights of the film were secured by Sun TV. The film was given a "U" certificate by the Indian Censor Board.
Reception
- The film opened with positive critical reception upon release.
- Kannedhirey Thondrinal was a Super hit and one of the most profitable films in 1998. It ran for over 175 days (25 weeks), completing a Silver Jubilee, which was then considered to be one of the measures of success.[3]
