Professor Keith Beven

Keith John Beven (born 23 July 1950) is a British hydrologist who is currently Distinguished Professor in Hydrology at Lancaster University. He is the most highly cited hydrologist.[1]

He graduated with a BSc in Geography from the University of Bristol in 1971 and completed his PhD at the University of East Anglia in 1975.[2] He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia from 1979 to 1982 and joined Lancaster University in 1985.

His research has resulted in a number of awards including the John Dalton Medal of the European Geophysical Society (2001), the Linnaeus Lecture Award at Uppsala University (2002), the Langbein Lecture Award of the American Geophysical Union (2004), the IAHS/WMO/UNESCO International Hydrology Prize (2009), and the 2012 Robert E. Horton Medal of the American Geophysical Union. He was awarded a honorary degree from the University of Bristol in 2015. He has published 10 books and over 350 papers.
