After earlier atempts with the literary magazine Audax (1922) and the Rivista del Sud (1923), Mignosi established La Tradizione in which he forcefully reacted against the prevailing idealism of Croce and Gentile.

Around La Tradizione, which was joined by an active publishing house, a number of young intellectuals were grouped: Gino Novelli, Federico De Maria, Pietro Maltese, Erminio Cavallero (1902–1969), Giuseppe Maggiore, Francesco Orestano, Luca Pignato, A. C. Curella (1899–1967), among others.
