Larry O'Bannon (born August 15, 1983) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv. He stands 1.94 m (6 ft 4 ½ in) tall and he can play both the shooting guard and the point guard positions.

Early life

O'Bannon attended Jefferson County Tranditonal middle school. In high school he attended Male High School where he competed in basketball and track and field. He played on the same basketball team as Oakland Raiders running back Michael Bush, who was also his teammate in middle school. O'bannon also has a sister who currently teaches at Meyzeek Middle School.

College career

O'Bannon played college basketball for the University of Louisville's Louisville Cardinals in 2005 when they made it to the 2005 Final Four. In that tournament O'Bannon was named the Regional MVP.


Pro career

In the 2005–06 season O'Bannon played on the Serbian basketball team Red Star Belgrade of the Adriatic League reaching the national league's second place and losing in the finals with his team. With Red Star Belgrade he won National Cup.

The following season O'Bannon played on the Italian Serie A League team Amatori Udine. On February 7, 2007, he was traded to Basket Napoli.[1] He next played with AGO Rethymno of the Greek A1 League and then he moved to the Bulgarian NBL club Lukoil Academic.

Prior to the 2008–09 season O'Bannon signed with Maccabi Rishon LeZion from Israel, and played for them for two years.


On September 16, 2010, he returned to Israel for a third consecutive season, signing for Maccabi Haifa,[2] but was released in February 2011.[3]

In July 2012 O'Bannon signed with SAV Vacallo Basket in Switzerland.[4] In February 2013 he signed for Israeli Hapoel Eilat to replace Darius Washington.[5] In August 2013, he signed with Sharks Antibes.[6] He left them in January 2014, and signed with Krasnye Krylia for the rest of the 2013–14 season.[7]

In September 2014, O'Bannon signed with Maccabi Rishon LeZion.[8]

In November 2014, after his release from Maccabi Rishon LeZion O'Bannon signed for another Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv. In his debut for Hapoel, he finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds.


O'Bannon continued to show good ability, and after 6 games at the end of the first round finished with 17 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4 assists
