Lee Wai Man (Chinese: 李偉文; Jyutping: lei5 wai5 man4, born 18 August 1973 in Hong Kong), is a Hong Kong professional football player who mainly plays as a defender. He had also played as other positions on the field, including goalkeeper when he moved on to this position urgently after his teammate Leung Cheuk Cheung was dismissed in a match. He announced his retirement from professional football at the end of the season 2006 – 2007.

Hong Kong national football team

Wai Man achieved the Coca-Cola Outstanding Youth Athlete Award when he was 18, the same year as the Hong Kong Cyclist Wong Kam Po. After an impressive performance in his club Eastern, Lee Wai Man, aged 20, was selected into the final squad for Hong Kong to play the 1994 World Cup qualifiers. He made his debut on 23 April 1994 versus Kuwait in a preparation match held in Singapore. Later that year, Lee played all World Cup qualifier-matches (totally 10 matches) for Hong Kong as a start left back.

Although Lee was dropped out from Hong Kong national football team between 1998 and 2000, he returned to play the first East Asia Football Championship preliminary round for Hong Kong as a sweeper. He became the captain for Hong Kong team in late 2003 until 2006.

Current status

Lee is a part-time commentator for TVB as well, he is usually participated in commenting the local football league and the foreign football tournament, like the Euro 2008 highlights. Olympic Game Football 2008plus the East Asia Game Football Final in 2009. Meanwhile, he is currently the head coach as well as player of Pontic Football Team, Hong Kong SAR.Lots of youth players appreciate for his coaching, as he is a patient and friendly coach, due to the smaller age gap between him and the youth players.
