MaiJazz is the Stavanger International Jazz Festival, Stavanger's oldest festival, taking place every May.[1]
Biography
Since the first MaiJazz in 1989, the festival has become one of Norway's leading jazz festivals. The festival presents both international jazz artists and the best of national and local jazz. About 200 volunteers are making the arrangement, with about 40 concerts on 20 venues in and around Stavanger, for the 80 to 1800 people visiting MaiJazz. Many international star artists have been presented by MaiJazz in recent years, such as Pat Metheny Group, Jan Garbarek Group, Gotan Project, Nils Petter Molvær, St. Germain, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Youssou N`dour, Joshua Redman, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Bobby McFerrin to mention a few.[2]
