Boundaries
It included the whole of the Maldon District Council area and part of the Borough of Chelmsford Council area. Danbury and Great Baddow are villages in the East Chelmsford part of the constituency.
Boundary review
Following their review into parliamentary representation in Essex, the Boundary Commission for England abolished the Maldon and East Chelmsford constituency. The wards currently which made up this constituency were divided between a new Maldon constituency; a new Witham constituency; and a re-created Chelmsford constituency. For the first time, the Maldon District was split between constituencies.
