MCV is a United Kingdom-based trade magazine which focuses on business aspects of the video game industry, including game retailing. It is published every Friday and is available online or via print subscription.[2] It is not available in shops.

MCV and Japanese video game magazine Famitsu have an exclusive partnership which sees news and content from each magazine appear in the other.[3] Its sister magazine, aimed more directly at developers, is Develop.

Format

Printed issues tend vary from between 50 to 100 pages, depending on time of the year, which consist of:

  • News and features covering the UK games industry
  • Special reports and analysis
  • Exclusive chart data from GfK Chart-Track
  • The "Retail Biz" section, which produces retailer reviews (as opposed to consumer reviews) of games, lists release dates, and analyses prices and market movements both in the UK and internationally.
  • Classifieds
  • Full-page adverts, in-line and double-page advertising

Unusually for a gaming publication, MCV's print editions sport traditional, newspaper-like page design.
