Mathew W. Mendenhall (born May 14, 1957) is a former American football defensive end who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He started in Super Bowl XVII. He played college football at Brigham Young University. He attended East High School and played alongside future Columbia star Ed Harris.[citation needed] He is the older brother of UVA Head coach Bronco Mendenhall.[1]
