Michael Fahlbusch (born in 1957) is a Swiss geographer and historian.

Biography

Michael Fahlbusch completed his studies in geography, sociology and political science at the University of Münster in 1985 with a diploma in geography. In 1993, he received his doctorate from Osnabrück University with a thesis in the history of science on the origins and history of the Foundation for German Folk and Cultural Land Research in Leipzig from 1920 to 1933. His study Wissenschaft im Dienst der nationalsozialistischen Politik? was written as part of the project Die Volksdeutschen Forschungsgemeinschaften (VFG) in Deutschland von 1931-1945, funded by the German Research Foundation. He works as a freelance historian of science in Basel. Since 2011, he has been a lecturer and since 2015 an associate researcher at the Institute of History of the University of Bern.

In 2005, his book German Scholars and Ethnic Cleansing, 1918-1945, which he co-edited with Ingo Haar, won the Choice Outstanding Book of the Year Award in the United States.
