Predecessor Chattagahaka Jantu
Successor Pandu
Dynasty House of Lambakanna I

Mittasena was King of Anuradhapura in the 5th century, whose reign lasted from 435 to 436. He succeeded Chattagahaka Jantu as King of Anuradhapura and was invaded by Pandu of The Six Dravidians. Mittasena was the last monarch of the House of Lambakanna I.

He had a reputation as a plunderer of crops from farmers. The chief minister of Chattagahaka Jantu orchestrated King Mittasena's acsesion. The Chief minister wanted to ascend the throne himself, but enthroned this noted plunderer first. King Mittasena was kept out of the sight of public. Chief Minister kept the administratonof the country in his hands. He must have thought that when prople came to know of the character of their King, they would drive him out. He must have further thought that people would offer the throne to the chief minister himself based on his record of good governanace.

People tolerated the unusual absence of their king from public events few times. Then they rose up and demanded to see their king. The Chief minister had to show the king and allow King Mittasena some liberty.

King Mittasena was said to be devoted to acts of piety.

Within one year of his acsesion, six Tamil chiefs invded Sri Lanka with an army. Head of them being Pandu. King Mittasena was defeated and slain in the battlefield.

He was succeeded by King Pandu of The Six Dravidians.
