Al-Hajj Nawab Ghulam Muhammad 'Abdu'l 'Ali Khan Bahadur (born 9 August 1951) is the current titular Prince of Arcot, holding this title since July 1993, upon demise of his father, Ghulam Mohammed Abdul Khader.[1] The family traces their origin back to second Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab.[2]

In his capacity as the Prince of Arcot, Muhammed Abdul Ali heads a number of religious endowments, charitable organisations, and educational trusts; and also manages the wakf in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.[citation needed] The Prince of Arcot is ranked on par with the Cabinet ministers of the Tamil Nadu in the Warrant of Precedence in the state (which is only for ceremonial occasions and has no meaning in the day-to-day affairs of the government).
