Pai Chan (Chinese: 陳佩 Pinyin: Chén Pèi, Japanese: パイ・チェン Pai Chen) is a fictional character in the Sega video game series Virtua Fighter. She debuted in the first Virtua Fighter, making her one of the original characters in the series. She is the daughter of Lau Chan, another character in the game. Pai Chan was born May 17, 1975 in Hong Kong (she was 18 years old in the first game, and 22 in Virtua Fighter 5 and Dead or Alive 5). She is a martial arts action movie star in her hometown, and her fighting style is Mizongyi (pronounced "Ensei-Ken" in Japanese). It is revealed that her favourite hobby is dancing. Pai is a leading star in Hong Kong action films. Her moods change as quickly as a cat's - she can erupt in passion in one minute, and turn icy cold in the next. Lau's only daughter, Pai was specially trained by her father in martial arts from a young age. In the original Virtua Fighter, however, while Lau obsessively strove on with his training, Pai's mother worked so hard to support the family that she died of overwork. Her death devastated Pai and she blamed it on Lau; she swore that one day she would beat him. Two years later, she was a success in the movie industry. After failing to defeat her father several times, Pai eventually learns that Lau has become ill and seeks to find a successor to his school of martial arts. Pai's goal to avenge her mother shifts and she becomes determined to defeat her father in order to gain his acknowledgment as a worthy successor and his daughter.

She also appears in Project X Zone alongside Akira as a pair unit, and returned in the sequel as a solo unit, with Kage-Maru replacing her as Akira's partner. Along with Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant (and also Jacky Bryant in the game's re-releases), Pai Chan make a guest appearance in Dead or Alive 5. Unlike in Virtua Fighter, where she is one of the most beginner-friendly characters, Pai is significantly more difficult to use and is, as a result, one of the hardest characters to play as in DOA5. Pai was also the inspiration for Leifang in the same series. She appears in Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax as Akira's assist, and was originally a non-playable final boss character in arcade version.
