Phulparas (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: फुलपारस विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Madhubani district in the Indian state of Bihar. River Bhutahi Balan, which is one of the wildest rivers in Bihar, flowing through the heart of it. [1]

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 39 Phulparas (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Ghoghardiha community development blocks Md. Zubair Alam Pirozgarh panchayat; Mahindwar, Dharamdiha, Goriari, Mahathour Khurd, Siswar Barhi, Phulparas, Ramnagar gram panchayats of Phulparas CD Block; Sunder Birajit, Matras, Tardiha, Mahisham, Madhepur East, Madhepur West, Nawada, Karhara, Dara, Doalakh, Mahpatia, Basipatti, Garhgaon, Bhakrain, Bath, Bakwa, Bhargawan, Barsham, Bheja and Rohua Sangram gram panchayats of Madhepur CD Block.[2]

Election results

1977-2010

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Guljar Devi of JD(U) won the Phulparas assembly seat defeating her nearest rival Virendra Kumar Chaudhary of RJD. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Deo Nath Yadav of SP defeated Bharat Bhusan Mandal of JD(U) in October 2005 and Ram Kumar Yadav of RJD in February 2005. Ram Kumar Yadav of JD(U) defeated Deo Nath Yadav of RJD in 2000. Deo Nath Yadav Congress defeated Ram Kumar Yadav of JD in 1995. Ram Kumar Yadav of JD defeated Deo Nath Yadav of Congress in 1990. Hemlata Yadav of Congress defeated Devendra Prasad Yadav, Independent, in 1985. Surendra Yadav of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh) defeated Kripa Nath Pathak of Janata Party (JP). Devendra Prasad Yadav of JP defeated Uttam Lal Yadav of Congress.[3][4]
