The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional league for Twenty20 cricket championship in India. It was initiated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), headquartered in Mumbai, and is supervised by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, who serves as the league's Chairman and Commissioner. It is currently contested by nine teams, consisting of players from around the world. It was started after an altercation between the BCCI and the Indian Cricket League.
In 2010, the IPL became the first sporting event ever to be broadcast live on YouTube in association with Indiatimes. Its brand value is estimated to be around US$2.92 billion in fourth season. However, the league has been engulfed by series of corruption scandals where allegations of cricket betting, money laundering and spot fixing were witnessed.

The Chennai Super Kings (abbreviated as CSK) are a franchise cricket team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Founded in 2008, the team is being captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and coached by Stephen Fleming. The team plays its home matches at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The Super Kings are the most successful team in the IPL and have won the title twice in succession (2010 and 2011). In 2010, they won the Champions League Twenty20 for the first time and repeated the feat in 2014. The leading run-scorer of the team is Suresh Raina, while the leading wicket-taker is Ravichandran Ashwin. The brand value of the Super Kings in 2012 was estimated at US$75.13 million, making them the most valuable franchise in the IPL.

He is a right-handed batsman and occasional off spin bowler who plays for England, Surrey and played for Delhi Daredevils from 2012 to 2014.In IPL auction 2015 he was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad He was captain of the England Test and One Day International teams from 4 August 2008 to 7 January 2009 but resigned after just three Tests and nine One Day Internationals, following a dispute with England coach Peter Moores, who was sacked the same day. On 31 May 2012, Pietersen retired from all forms of international limited-overs cricket.

As of 2012, thirty six umpires have officiated at least one Indian Premier League (IPL) match, a professional league for Twenty20 cricket in India. Of these, Billy Doctrove has officiated the most matches, serving as an umpire 44 times, while Shashank Ranade has officiated the fewest, serving in two matches of the 2009 season. As of the 2010 season, an umpire receives a ₹6 crore (US$890,000) salary for officiating during a season. The umpires are sponsored by Kingfisher Airlines whose branding is displayed on their uniforms. The recipient team of the Fly Kingfisher Fair Play Award is also decided by the number of points given by the umpires in the league. The first match of the IPL was umpired by Asad Rauf and Rudi Koertzen, while the most recent match was umpired by Billy Bowden and Simon Taufel. Fifteen of the umpires are of Indian nationality, six are Australian, five are South African and three are from New Zealand. Only four men have served as IPL umpires in both the first season and the latest season, Doctrove, Rauf, Bowden and Aleem Dar; and 14 umpires have served in only one season.
