Red Fisher (born 22 August 1926) is a former Canadian sports journalist whose columns focused on the National Hockey League and its Montreal Canadiens team.

Fisher was born in Montreal in 1926 and was given the nickname "Red" due to the colour of his hair in his younger years.[1] He began his hockey coverage in The Montreal Star newspaper in 1954 where he remained as writer and sports editor until that paper's demise in 1979. Immediately after this, he joined the Montreal Gazette as sports editor (for a short time), where his columns continued to appear.

Fisher has stated that Habs legend Dickie Moore (ice hockey) was his closest friend.[2]

Fisher was the longest-serving beat writer covering an NHL team. Over his career, he worked for 10 editors and publishers, and won the Canadian National Newspaper Award three times. Fisher's retirement was announced by Gazette publisher Alan Allnutt in a column on 8 June 2012.[3]

As of December 2015, Fisher continues to write guest articles for the Gazette.[2]
