San Francisco Deltas are an American professional soccer team based in San Francisco, California. They are scheduled to join the North American Soccer League (NASL) – Division II in the American soccer pyramid – beginning with the 2017 season.[1] They will play home games at Kezar Stadium.[2]
History
The San Francisco soccer startup is led by Colombian-born entrepreneur, Brian Andrés Helmick. After graduating from Stanford Business School, he founded an HR software platform company, Algentis, sold to Hub International in 2014.[3]
The Deltas are financially backed by a diverse group of investors from Silicon Valley tech companies and venture capital firms as well as investors from Brazil. The group includes Jonathan Peachey, former CEO of Virgin in North America; Danny Khatib, Co-Founder, President and COO of Livingly Media; and Josh McFarland, senior director of product at Twitter.[4]
The team will be the 13th member of the new incarnation of the North American Soccer League.[5]
