Sangeeta Bijlani (born 9 July 1960) is a former Indian Bollywood actress and former model. Bijlani was the Miss India winner in 1980.[1]
Film career
After winning the Miss India title in 1980, Bijlani kept herself busy in modeling and did a couple of commercials for brands like Vicco Turmeric cream and Nirma detergent.
During the early 1980s, she signed on for films. J.P Dutta's Blockbuster and Superhit Hathyar was the first film she signed which was earlier offered to Dimple Kapadia who left the role for Batwara. She tasted success with Tridev in 1989, a film that went on to be a superhit in that year.
She received a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nomination for Mahesh Bhatt's Jurm (1990). Apart from successful films Tridev and Jurm, she was part of films like Ijjat, Yugandhar, Yodha, Khoon Ka Karz and Vishnu Deva. She continued acting in films till the mid-1990s.
During the same time, she also anchored for Doordarshan's popular Sunday morning show Rangoli and played the title role in Zee TV's Chandni. She also featured in a Nirma Soap ad along with Shilpa Shetty. She has not acted in many films since 1997 and is often seen in party circles.
Personal life
Born on July 9, 1960, in Mumbai into a Sindhi-speaking household, her father's name is Motilal Pandey. She was married to former India cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin until the divorce in 2010.
